Review by Venue Magazine, January 2003
"Legendarily unclassifiable, Bristol's Organelles have always preferred to fly wherever they pleased rather than call a single pigeonhole home. This second album finds them keeping the spirit free - loose arrangements, a nod here and there to jazz, a delicately aimed boot in the face of convention... The combination of Paul Bradley's clean guitar and Pete Judge's fluid trumpet might recall mid-Eighties Scouse popsters The Pale Fountains but there's something deeper afoot. Leftfield (but not for leftfield's sake), nothing is remotely difficult here, particularly when they travel down Pop Sweetness Avenue on tracks like 'I Can't Go On, I'll Go On'. This is angular stuff, but not awkward. A little-seen jewel that's crying out for public display."
Review by Bath Evening Chronicle, Jan 31, 2003
"The first Organelles cd, made sometime in the last millennium, has endured as one of my all-time favourites. Like the first, this one falls somewhere between definitions and categories.
"On first hearing, it is evident Knowing You're Born is better recorded and put together with a much sharper focus than its predecessor. While the first had the feeling of a dreamy trawl through the Organelle composite mind, in this each song has its own distinct identity.
"It is an album that transcends genre and at the same time exhibits the capacity to redefine jazz songwriting, and all with lovely playing, particularly from Pete."

Review by Straight No Chaser, Winter 1999
"I played this CD, top to bottom, in the office one quiet Saturday afternoon and was won over. Organelles are essentially a four-piece band of whom we know very little except they come from Bristol and this is an Art Council assisted effort via the lottery. Their highly individual sound is built around Paul Bradley's guitar and voice (tin whistle, piano, harmonica) and Pete Judge's trumpet. This is one of those quirky English albums, jazz influenced to be sure but in a definite category of its own. When I hear this, especially the vocals, I think of Robert Wyatt, Love, even Jerry Dammers. There's a melodic charm at work on Cellular Soul and a quiet depth to its songs. Take a risk and give it a try."

"These tracks are exhilarating yet melancholy, beautifully crafted, and show great musicianship. It's refreshing to hear music that unfolds in such unpredictable ways and great to hear a band that offers something other than predictable melodies" ("Liza", 02/09/02)
"Excellent! Furrowing their own path and winning." ("Paul Piacentin", 16/04/01)
"Really good. I've never heard something like that." ("Martin", 30/03/01)
"Innovativ, interessant" ("Flowman", 17/02/01)
"Stinks" ("Glassman", 14/01/01)
